Exchange Program

Fall 2018

Exchange to University of Creative Arts

During the fall of 2018 I went on exchange to Canterbury, England to the University of Creative Arts in the Interior Architecture Program.

While I was there, I stayed with a wonderful British family who taught me all about British culture. I made many international friends from all over the world including Josh from Australia and Bali, Evelina from Sweden, Gesche from Germany, and Zvone from Croatia (ordered left to right in image). Being around all these cultures opened my eyes to cultural competencies and gave me a wide range of perspectives to learn from. This photo was taken in the heart of the city at the Canterbury Cathedral, which houses the shrine of Thomas Becket and welcomed early British pilgrims into Canterbury.

While at UCA, I worked on two major projects. One being this temporary interactive structure which was a collaborative effort with the whole class of 40 BA and MA interior architecture students. It was built in the courtyard on campus to be used by all students. The structure was developed in parts by smaller groups within the class, my group dealing with the soft architecture / interactives. The second project was to take this structure and develop photoshoped images of it being reshaped by a given "climate"; mine being biodegradability.
